Common Exercise Technique Mistakes: Part 1: How To Bench Press
One of the most common and dangerous gym mistakes i see being made is poor bench press technique. It is ESSENTIAL to have correct technique when doing the bench press exercise for the following reasons:
1. The Bench Press is possibly the most OVER performed exercise
2. The Bench Press is definitely the most egotistical. ‘How much dya bench’ is the 1st question that comes out of a meatheads mouth when you mention you go to the gym! Oh and lets not forget the most frequently asked question i get asked in the gym ‘how do i get a bigger chest’ . . i say bench press but before i can help them and demonstrate how to do it properly they are off setting themselves up for injury! And this is why its the most over perfomed (see point 1)
I work in Northwood Health and Fitness in Santry, Dublin and i see these training mistakes being made every week . . Trouble is; over performing the bench press exercise is one thing. . overdoing the bench press and doing it wrong is just madness!
